Chipiona celebrates from today and throughout this week from 23 to Sunday 29 August, the XII Rocío Jurado Cultural Week, which this year will commemorate the 78th anniversary of her birth, with a program adapted to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
In the Castle of Chipiona, the presentation of the poster announcing the Cultural Week took place, presided over by the mayor, Luis Mario Aparcero Fernández de Retana and other members of the municipal Corporation and representatives of the Cultural Association "RJ La Mas Grande" that presides Gloria Camila (daughter of Ortega Cano and Rocío Jurado) and the Chipiona Business Association (ACITUR).
A VERY SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR THE PANDEMIC
Organized by the Chipiona City Council, it includes the musical setting, throughout this week, of the central and pedestrian street, Issac Peral and the Plaza de Abastos, places where Rocío Jurado's songs will be played. The installation of a "Photocall" in the Plaza de Andalucía. The exhibition of six large digital prints designed by Manuel Barragán in different parts of the historic center of the town and finally the municipal Radio TV will broadcast during the week a special program on the life and legacy of Rocío Jurado, by the Official Chronicler of the Villa, Juan Luis Naval Molero.
ROCIO JURADO ALWAYS TOOK OFF A FEW YEARS

Two years ago, the young portrait painter from Malaga, Quique Postigo, was working on Rocío, on the facade of Rocío Jurado's house "My grandmother Rocío" on Avenida de Regla in this Villa. The public did not respect her and they painted over the portrait of the artist that Quique made. Gloria Mohedano, Rocío's sister, has returned to speak with the artist from Malaga, and has invited him to make a larger portrait of Rocío and as you will see, the result has been spectacular. Gloria thanked the painter from Malaga for the nice detail of coming to Chipiona to immortalize the Biggest with his painting.
